1928 – 2025
Mr. Stanley Peter Hergert of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at the Innisfail Health Centre on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the age of 96 years.
Stanley was born on March 29, 1928 in Calgary, Alberta. He was the youngest son of parents, Peter and Maria ‘Mary’ Hergert. Stanley’s parents immigrated to Canada in 1911 and started a farm in Olds, Alberta in 1930. He spent his youth on the family farm and attending school, completing his education in Calgary, Alberta. Stanley then returned to the farm working with his father and brother.
He married Ramona Routhier in 1973, and they purchased the family farm and started a family of their own. In 1976, they sold the family farm and moved to Penticton, British Columbia due to health issues. Missing the prairies, they returned to Red Deer, Alberta where Stanley worked as a realtor and then a home builder for several years, before retiring back to Penticton, British Columbia. They returned once more to Red Deer, Alberta to be closer to their children and grandkids.
Stanley enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, jet boating and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid hobbyist, which included gunsmithing and wood working.
Stanley is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kim (Gord) Mann and their children, Justin and Blake Mann, his son, David Hergert as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ramona, his parents, Peter and Mary and his seven siblings, Tom, Pauline, John, Albert, Helen, Gloria and Eileen.
A Memorial Service will be held at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, 4415 49 Street, Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at heartandstroke.ca.
