August 27, 1949 – September 25, 2020
Liia passed away suddenly Sept 25, 2020 in Nanaimo, BC with her family by her side.
Liia was born Aug 27, 1949 to Hugo and Lydia Tamme in Goteborg, Sweden. She later moved to Toronto Ontario when she was 5.
Liia attended York University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She met her lifelong partner and love of her life, Derrill Herman in 1968 and they were married December 1969.
She had her one and only child, Liisa Herman, who was the apple of her eye. Derrill and Liia traveled the world whenever they could find time to do so. She had the most radiant smile and sweetest personality and had no trouble making new friends.
Liia and Derrill established the business Professional Health Products together. In her later years, she also embraced her interest in photography, painting and crafts. She loved hosting dinner parties, having a good game of cards, and was favored by casino slot machines everywhere.
Liia was also an active member of the Estonian society in Alberta and was very proud of her heritage. Liia was predeceased by her mother Lydia (Karileet) and father Hugo Tamme in 2008; as well as her younger brother Alex in 2018.
She is survived by her husband Derrill Wayne Herman, daughter Liisa Petersen (nee Herman), dear grandson Cody Petersen (Courtnay) and beloved granddaughter Kirstie Petersen (Todd). Liia is also survived by her brother Eedo Tamme (Petra), their two children Markus and Kirsten; as well as sister-in-law Shauna Tamme and her three children Jerret, Andrea and Evan.
Liia is survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law on her husband’s side of the family and many nieces and nephews. Each and every one of them held a special place in her heart.
Services will be held at a later date.
