1939 – 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Rosemarie Ann Herman (nee Lamb) announce her passing on January 5, 2023, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosemarie was born March 31, 1939 in Lone Rock, Saskatchewan. She moved to Lloydminster, Alberta in 1957 to work as an AGT telephone operator for four years. She married George in October of 1961 and they moved to Innisfail in February, 1962 where George continued his Chiropractic practice. Rose was actively involved in the community through Jaycettes, curling, and in later years working in George’s office.
Her dinner parties and birthday suppers with friends and family were legendary. Her passion for cooking, entertaining, Elvis, garage sales, and Christmas have been passed down to her children and grandchildren. She had travelled to many exotic places in her lifetime. Hawaii was a favourite destination with multiple trips to Maui, Oahu, Hawaii, and Kauai but barely stepping foot in the ocean. Her love/hate relationship with water was well known. Family trips to Disneyland over the years included opportunities to enjoy watching some of her grandchildren dancing in the park.
Rose, George, Derrill and Liia all took a very memorable trip to Europe where they explored France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Belgium and ended with a wonderful week in the Netherlands. Her love of Elvis took her to Las Vegas in the 70’s to see him live, which she always talked about and then finally in 2008 seeing Graceland on a bus tour through the states with friends. A family wedding took her to PEI in 2012, where she enjoyed a clam chowder which she claimed was better than hers. Countless camping and fishing trips with family and a great group of friends rounded out her travel adventures.
Her life and legacy will always be cherished. She will be forever missed by George, her husband and best friend of sixty-one years, and her loving children, Shara (Larry) Smith, Tara (Don) Green and Geoff Herman (Krista Clelland). She also leaves six grandchildren to forever remember her: Kristy (James) Dean, Joanna (Jason) Ezeard, Danielle (Mark) Smyth, April (Josh) Hauta, Kyle Smith (Megan Lemay) and Courtney (Bladyn) Biggs. She also leaves to mourn her ten great grandchildren: Jack, Amelia Dean, Kira, Luke Ezeard, Grace, Theo, Emma, Abby Smyth, Chloe Hauta, and Ruby Biggs. She will also be fondly remembered by her sister Doreen (Glen) and brother, Johnny and her brother Mike (Roseanne) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Helen Lamb, her brother Gordon Kube and sister, Margaret Preete and her sister, Madeline Mackay as well as her sisters-in-law: Elsie Kube, Helen Lamb and Liia Herman, her brother-in-law Frank Preete and by many special friends. Special thank you to the Innisfail Health Care “Palliative Care” nurses and aides for the loving care they gave her in her final days.
Thank you to Father Curtis. Also special thanks to her friends Marilyn Marshall, Karen McCulloch, and sister-in-law Nyna for the extra support they gave us. Your kindness and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life for Rosemarie will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #104, Innisfail, Alberta on March 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
“May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields until we meet again.
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.” -Irish proverb
