1935 – 2024
With saddened hearts the family of Shirley Hodgkinson (nee: Scott) of Elk Point, Alberta regretfully announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and friend on July 29, 2024 at the age of 88 years. Shirley was born October 22, 1935 and was raised in the Innisfail area. Her parents farmed in the Ridgewood District, and she also attended school at Ridgewood and Lindsay Thurber Composite High School.
Shirley was a kind and gentle soul and was loved by many. She lived her life with grace and compassion for others. Her passion was her home with a yard filled with beautiful flower beds, and a sparkling clean house that was always full of love. She was an amazing cook who was known to feed many men at harvest time and host beautiful family meals. She loved to dance and spend time with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. No matter what she endured in life she remained kind until her passing.
Shirley lived in Elk Point for the last few years and made many friends at the lodge where she resided. She always had a candy dish full of treats and any staff that came to assist her was given a candy. She will be fondly remembered by the staff and residents. One of her favourite times was Monday afternoon Bingo and the coffee gathering with the ladies that followed, there were many laughs and memories shared around the table.
Shirley is lovingly survived by her children: Dale Hodgkinson (Pauline Caissie) of Penhold, Alberta, Donna Hodgkinson (Darren Misick) of Elk Point, Alberta, grandson; Lane Westlake of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan; friend, Bill Lust of Innisfail, Alberta, sister-in-law: Beth Scott of Innisfail, Alberta and Linda Scott of Innisfail, Alberta.
Shirley was predeceased by her Parents: Percy and Elsie Scott; her brothers: Harvey Scott and Melvin Scott; her grandson: Cody Neigum; partner: Fred Parker and son-in-law: Lawrence Westlake. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. As per Shirley's wishes cremation has taken place. Final resting place will be Innisfail Cemetery, Innisfail, Alberta.
