Patrick Arthur Hoschka passed away peacefully at the Olds Hospital, at the age of 90, surrounded by his family on Oct 3rd, 2024.

Pat was born in Calgary AB on April. 13th, 1934. It was in Olds AB he met (his bride) as he always called her, Marilyn Marie Smith. They were married in February 1954 and farmed just east of Olds, raising 2 boys and 2 girls and becoming a family of 6 by 1961. A move to town happened in 1962 and Pat built the first bowling alley which he opened in 1963 where the Olds Legion stands today.

After many years working as a Corrections Officer at the Bowden Institute Pat retired to become a  full time Carpenter.  Whether you needed cupboards made, a piece of furniture, reno’s, repairs or a house built, he was an expert in his field.

He had many hobbies over the years including hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and golfing. Pat was a member of the Olds Fire Department for many years as well as King’s Own Calgary Regiment and was a huge Flames fan, rarely ever missed a game. He looked forward to his “SENATORS” meetings (aka, a drink with his friends) at the Legion each week.

Pat will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 70 years Marilyn, their children Debra (Peter) Sanden, Brian (Robynn) Hoschka, Brent Hoschka, Paula (Arla) Horn. 9 Grandchildren,  Lindsay, Stephanie, Trisha, Chelsey, Mitch, Jessica, Chad, Drew and Ashley along with 14 Great Grandchildren.

A family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Pats honor may be made to Olds Royal Canadian Legion #105 5241 46th St Olds AB T4H 1H5
