“Hey Girlfriend”
That was mom, you couldn’t miss her from a mile away with that greeting and on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Bertha Hunt said her last “hey girlfriend” and passed away in her home after a short battle with cancer at the age of 67.
Bertha was born in Coleman, Alberta on March 28, 1955, to Ron and Bertha Crippen and grew up in large family.
Bertha is lovingly remembered by her daughter Kerry (Brad) Towle, granddaughters Madison (Taylor), Jessica (Jody), Kassandra (Dave) and Melinda. Bertha will also be deeply missed by her sisters Wendy, Ilene (Ron), Judy (Larry) and brother Gary.
Mom’s biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family, laughing, jamming to music, camping, attending many events or sitting on the deck. Mom enjoyed her times with friends visiting, playing cards, bingo or going on local trips with friends. Her dear friend Tina held a special place in mom’s heart and her many visits and chats brought her immense joy. Mom couldn’t have been prouder of her family. She spent many suppers with Brad watching ‘The Office’, visiting on the deck with us all, jamming to music with Madison and Taylor, camping with Jessica and Jody or catching up with Kassandra and Melinda. Mom was filled with joy when she could be surrounded by her granddaughters, and it completed her and brought happiness to her every day.
Bertha truly enjoyed her work at Alberta Health Services and all the great people she worked with. Mom was hardworking, dedicated and easily made people happy and enjoyed many laughs with her co-workers. Mom was known for her quick wit, sense of humor and compassion; she would give you the shirt off her back or a hug if you needed it. Mom had a knack for looking out for others and trying to bring them joy.
Mom will also be deeply missed by Goofy!! Mom loved Goofy. On any given occasion, Mom could be seen sporting some sort of Goofy apparel whether it be a hat, jersey, or hoodie. She loved her visits to Disney and searched out Goofy for many pictures and hugs with him.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Norm Hunt, sons Ron and Richard Hunt, her parents Ron and Bertha Crippen and several brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.104, Innisfail.
