Art was born in Didsbury on May 19,1935 and resided on the farmland in the Westerdale  district until he retired  and moved to a suite in Olds.

Art had a mannerism that was hard to beat. He was quick witted and always willing to help anyone and was respected  by all those that knew him.

He was predeceased by; his parents Harry and Monica (Farrant);  his wife Elsie; brother  and sister-in-law Bob &Greta(Kershaw). He is survived by his sister & brother-in-law Barbara and Don Krebs;  brother & sister-in-law Roger and Rose-Marie (Frere); and several nieces and nephews.

Art attended the rural school at Westerdale for grade 1 to 9 then began his farming career working with his dad and brother Bob and later joined by his brother-in-law Don.

Art enjoyed  playing  baseball  in the summer and he was an avid and successful hunter and truly enjoyed  hunting  trips to the mountain parks with horses  in the fall.  Playing hockey for the Didsbury Ramblers in the Chinook Hockey League was the winter sport.  He also mixed in fishing trips and curling games whenever he could.

In 1975  Art and Elsie (Elka Whyte) were married and they built a new home 1mile east and 1mile north of the home place. After retiring from active farming Art’s hobbies included maintenance of the local cemetery and the building of several puzzles.

Art's beloved siblings, nieces & nephews would like to invite his friends to a Celebration of Life for Art on February 25, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Westerdale hall.
