1931 - 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Nina Lois Jacobson (nee McMurray) of Innisfail, Alberta, at the Innisfail Health Centre, on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
Nina was born in Orton, Alberta on March 3, 1931, to Milford and Cassie McMurray. After she completed Glenwood High School, where she was an avid athlete, she went on to Calgary to complete Lei Nurses Training, in 1954. She met her lifelong partner, Robert Jacobson and the two were married on August 31, 1957. Since Robert worked for Alberta Gas Trunk Lines, this saw them live in Brooks, Bindloss, Oyen, Alix, Carstairs and finally Innisfail, in 1977.
Nina nursed at Brooks, the Calgary General and also the Bowden Institution, until her retirement in 1990. Nina enjoyed sewing, painting, cooking, baking, canning, listening to music; and was an enthusiastic member of the Carstairs Kitchen Band and her beloved Chinese Chow dogs.
Nina will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ of sixty-three years, and her three children: her daughter, Donna (Norman) of Innisfail and her grandchildren, Nicole and Nicholas, and her great granddaughter, Alice; her son, Bradley of Rocky Mountain House, her daughter, Colleen (Kevin) of Edson, Alberta and her grandchildren, Riley, Amanda; her granddaughter Julie (Vince) of Olds, Alberta and her great grandchildren, Zoe, Max, Kai; and her grandson Justin (Jen) of Calgary, Alberta. Nina will also be sadly missed by her sister, Eva in Pocatello, Idaho and her family; and her brother-in-law, Dale (Elin) Jacobson of Brooks, Alberta and their family and her sister-in-law, Doreen and her family in International Falls, Minnesota; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Nina was predeceased by her parents, Milford and Cassie McMurray, her daughter, Maureen and a grandson, Kyle and her sisters, Elsie, Norma, a brother, Gordon ‘Dean’. No Formal Funeral Service will be held. Cremation has taken place.
