It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christine (Christie) Jenkins at the age of 63.

Born April 10, 1958 to Jean and Ed Reid in Innisfail, Alberta. She was raised in Spruce View, Alberta with her two brothers Alan and Doug. After high school graduation she moved to Calgary, where she completed the Medical Records Technician course at SAIT. Christie spent the next 42 years working at the Innisfail Hospital in the medical records department until she retired in 2018.

Christie met the love of her life, Don in 1983 and they were married in 1984. In 1985, they bought a farm in the Eagle Hill area where they settled down to raise their two children, Kathryn and Tyler, on a hay and grain farm. She was her kids' biggest fan going to every hockey game, and music concert. Christie loved gardening and every year planted a sea of pansies, petunias, geraniums and lilies. Her flowers were always beautiful, until the deer found them. She was an avid reader and once the kids moved out, she took up knitting, crafting many gorgeous baby blankets.

After her retirement, Christie’s favorite hobby was being a full time grandma to her beloved grandkids. They spent lots of time together playing, baking, watching movies and snuggling. Christie will always be remembered for her kind, soft spoken and genuine demeanour. She had a sharp sense of humour and everyone loved being around her.

Left to grieve the loss is her beloved husband, Don Jenkins; mother Jean Reid; children Kathryn (Brad) Williams; Tyler (Marissa) Jenkins; grandchildren Jake, Hailey and Jackson; brothers Alan (Mary) Reid; Doug (Laurel) Reid; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was predeceased by her father Ed and grandparents. Thank you to all of the family, friends and health care professionals who helped care for Christie on her journey with ALS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Alberta at www.alsab.ca/donate or  7874 10 Street NE Calgary, AB T2E 8W1.
