It is with great sadness that the family of Lavilla (Vi) Johannson announce that she passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on April 5, 2022 at the age of 74 years.
Lavilla is survived by her children Heith Johannson (Sandra) of Lacombe and Bette Ferguson (Leroy) of Sylvan Lake. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Krysta Goodkey (Darren) of Forestburg, Shayla Johannson (Jon Barry) of Sundre, Taylor Ferguson (Jace Martin) of Sylvan Lake and Christopher Ferguson of Sylvan Lake. Lavilla also leaves to mourn 4 great grandchildren, Maddi and Brady Barry and Karson and Danika Goodkey along with her brother Larry Carlyle (Monique) of Whitehorse along with numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of great friends.
Lavilla was predeceased by her husband Fred, parents James and Dora Carlyle, and infant daughter Kluane Johannson.
Lavilla was born in Eckville and was raised in Whitehorse. She moved to Red Deer where attended Reeves Business College. Lavilla married Fred on August 12, 1967. She farmed alongside her husband Fred in the Markerville area for many years before getting out of farming and entering the insurance business. They purchased Elliot Agencies in Sylvan Lake which they ran until they retired. Lavilla was a dedicated community member spending countless hours volunteering for various causes including a volunteer at Red Deer Regional Hospital for many years, a member of the Stephan G Stephansson Icelandic Society and a member of the Sylvan Lake Lioness Club. Lavilla was a common spectator at activities where her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were participants. After Freds passed in May 2021, she moved to Royal Oak Manor in Lacombe.
A Celebration of Life for Lavilla and Fred will be held at the Fensala Hall in Markerville on Friday afternoon June 10, 2022 from 3pm – 5 pm.
