October 12, 1928 - December 29, 2020
Albert Kendze passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on December 29, 2020. At home on his farm west of Didsbury, surrounded by his loved ones, Albert was united in heaven with his Lord and Saviour.
Albert Alfred Kendze was born October12, 1928 in Wadena Saskatchewan, to parents Julius and Olga Kendze. Albert was born one year after his parents and older brother and sister (Karl and Irene) arrived at Pier 21 Halifax, from Germany. Their destination was Margo, Saskatchewan, and there the family purchased one quarter of land just north of Margo, the farm Albert would grow up on. In 1945 Albert’s father passed away, leaving 17 year old Albert to run the farm for his mother and his younger brother Herb. There were some very difficult years on the farm, but during this time Albert and Herb developed a love of baseball and became excellent hard ball players, first baseman and pitcher! In the fall of 1956, Albert took over management of the Searle grain elevator in Margo, while also keeping up the family farm.
On December 14, 1956, Albert and Elsie (Moon) were married in the In Vermay Anglican Church and made their home in Margo. Due to health problems, Albert had to leave his job at the elevator and in 1960 Albert and Elsie returned to the family farm where they spent the next 6 years. Sons Marvin Charles (October 8, 1957) and Brent William (May 12, 1959) were born at the same hospital as Albert, in Wadena Saskatchewan.
In 1966, Albert and Elsie sold their land and moved to a farm southwest of Didsbury, Alberta. Albert loved the beautiful view of the mountains and would call that farm home for the next 54 years. Albert and Elsie did some travelling, his favorite trip was to the Holy Land in 1983, but home was where he was the happiest. Albert was a self-described cattleman, and all who knew him could attest to his love of cows and auction marts. He especially enjoyed the Olds Auction Mart and his bushing buddies at the restaurant.
Albert was a dealer for Taurus salt and mineral and Crystalyx supplements and made many friends in the community through his business. He was a great story teller, had an infectious laugh and loved his family and his Lord deeply. Albert passed on his love of farming to three generations who carry on his legacy on the family farm.
Albert was predeceased by his son Brent on October 5, 2020, by his parents Julius and Olga, brothers Karl ( Del), Herb (Anita), father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Phyllis Moon, brother-in-law Lloyd Schwab, brother-in-law Ken Murray, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Albert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie ( Moon) Kendze, his son Marvin (Linda), daughter-in-law Valdene, his sister Irene Schwab, grandchildren Josh (Amanda), Luke ( Tania ) , Abbi-Lynn , Shianne ( Erik Dublanko) , Dallas (Alyssa) , and great grandchildren Sierrah, Easton, Eliana , Boe, Ava and Dax.
