1955 – 2024
Steven James Kennedy, born on September 15, 1955, at Innisfail, Alberta, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 in his hometown, at the age of 68 years.
He was raised on the family farm east of Innisfail. Steven pursued his passion for Farrier Science, graduated from Olds College and dedicated over three decades to the craft, leaving an indelible mark on the equestrian community. Alongside his work at John’s Manville for over twenty-five years, Steven’s expertise as a farrier brought him joy and fulfillment.
Steven was a proud member of the Legion and devoted much of his time to volunteer work, notably at the Little Red Barn for over thirty years, as well as supporting events such as the Silver Buckle Rodeo, Innisfail Rodeo, and parades with his beloved horse and buggy. Beyond his professional and community endeavours, Steven had a profound love for figure skating, horses, and blacksmithing; skills he honed with dedication and finesse throughout his life.
Steven is survived by his wife, Janice, his sons, Wade (Zita), Robert (Carolina), and Tanner, his three cherished grandchildren, his brother, Jack, and his sisters, Laura and Susan.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Marion.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Steven will be held at the Innisfail Public Library, 5300A - 55 Street Close, Innisfail, Alberta, on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. It is a Drop-In event, welcoming all those whose lives he touched to come together in remembrance.
