1941 – 2023
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lyla Marie Koenning on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the age of 81 years.
Lyla was born at Olds, Alberta on March 26, 1941. It was some years later when she met Walter Koenning at Cochrane, Alberta. They were married in December of 1959.
Walter and Lyla had three children; a daughter, Kelly, and two sons, Kory and Chris. In 1964 they bought a farm near Innisfail, Alberta where they raised their children and continued to reside on the farm until their passing.
Lyla will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughter, Kelly Pupetz and her sons, Kory Koenning and Chris (Stacy) Koenning, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will also be deeply missed by her brother, Barry Dunwoody, her two sisters, Sherry Hill and Linda Wilson, and her good friend, Ann Brewer, along with many more friends.
Lyla was predeceased by her husband, Walter, her parents, Lyle and Rose Dunwoody, a brother, Mel, a son-in-law, Bob Pupetz, a daughter-in-law, Karen Green, and a brother-in-law, Ken Hill.
A Celebration of Lyla’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 104, 5108 – 49 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
Due to severe (anaphylactic) allergies, it must be a scent free zone; no aloe or citrus, absolutely no scents of any type whatsoever including perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, scented soaps or body sprays. This would be greatly appreciated by the family.
