May 16, 1957 – August 3, 2024
Lucille Rose Konsmo (nee Hermary) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 3, 2024, following complications from a stroke.
Lucille was born on May 16th, 1957, in Red Deer, Alberta to Regina and Robert Hermary. She was the fourth of seven children. As a young girl, Lucille spent many days on the family farm in north Red Deer, playing with her siblings and tending to their many animals. She attended Montfort School and then Camille J. Lerouge for junior high and high school. Lucille belonged to a large extended family where faith was at the centre of all that they did. She remained a faithful Catholic until the end of her life.
In 1978 Lucille married Marty Konsmo and they soon moved to Olds to begin their family. She stayed home with her three children until her youngest entered elementary school. When the children were small, Lucille joined her women’s sorority, Beta Sigma Phi (now Just Friends). Many of those women became life-long friends and she cherished those friendships deeply.
Lucille recently retired from the Olds Coop after 30 years of serving the community she loved. She believed in giving back to her community and held various volunteer roles throughout the community.
Lucille leaves to mourn her husband of 46 years, Marty Konsmo, along with their three children and their spouses Sarah (Gijs Mulder), Grant (Faith St. Pierre), Christal (Jamie Putz), seven grandchildren Olivia, Nathalie and Theo Mulder, Salix and Orson Konsmo, and Miles and Stella Putz. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses Mary (Rick Bickford), Randy Hermary (Maureen), and Louise (Mark Pavlick) and her in-laws April Konsmo, Jackie Konsmo (Shelley Speakman), Lorie Konsmo (Brenda), Darryl Konsmo (Shannon) and Darr Sward as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lucille was predeceased by her parents Regina and Robert Hermary, siblings Dale, Brian and Susan Hermary, mother in-law Mary Konsmo and brother in-law Rusty Konsmo.
Lucille received incredible nursing care throughout her stay at both the Foothills Hospital and Olds Hospital, with support from the Olds and District Hospice Society. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Olds and District Hospice Society.
A celebration of life will be held for Lucille at 11 a.m. on August 14th, 2024, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Please join the family for the sharing of memories downstairs in the church hall where refreshments and food will be served.
