On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, Hilda (Tiny) Kroetsch passed away at the age of 89 years. Tiny will be forever remembered by her children, Douglas (Theresa), Wayne, and Janis (Paul) Goldamer; as well as eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Tiny was predeceased by her husband, Joe, on February 16, 2019.
Tiny was born in DeWinton and grew up in various areas including Calgary, Pine Lake, and Turner Valley. She had a huge place in her heart for animals, especially horses. She married Joe in August of 1951 and they resided in Turner Valley for several years. While in Turner Valley, they were blessed with two sons, Douglas and Wayne. When Joe started a new job with Canadian Superior at Harmattan, they relocated to Didsbury. Within a few years, their third and last child, Janis, was born. During the family’s time in Didsbury, Tiny was very involved with the Royal Purple and was an avid golfer and curler. She spent many hours at the swimming pool as a timer and a stroke/turn judge as well as volunteered with the figure skating club while Janis competed in swimming in the summer and figure skating in the winter. Tiny was a homemaker while the children were young but as they grew up, she worked part-time for the Didsbury Meat Processing Plant. Tiny and Joe relocated from Didsbury to Olds in 1996 and Tiny resided there until her passing. Tiny and Joe both loved to bowl as well as play shuffleboard at the Legion. In recent years, Tiny enjoyed knitting, puzzles, and couldn’t get enough of sports on television, especially curling, hockey, golfing, and baseball.
At Tiny’s request, no Memorial Service will be held. If so desired, donations may be made to the donor’s charity of choice. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca.
