October 14, 1931 – November 7, 2020
Our dearest Aunt Shirley went home to be with her Heavenly Father, at Sunset Manor, Innisfail, on the evening of Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the age of 89 years. All of her dear friends and family will surely miss her hugs and charming personality; always taking a genuine interest in everyone, never forgetting anyone’s birthday or other celebration days. Shirley’s passion was to knit and crochet; of which she learned to do at a very young age. She would be sure to gift friends and family with one of her freshly knitted or crocheted gems. Shirley enjoyed donating her time and handiwork to the Innisfail Hospital Auxiliary; of which she received a long-standing service award. Shirley and her dad lived and farmed in the Dickson area, then in 1978 retired and bought a home in Innisfail. After her dad passed away in 1988, Shirley downsized and lived at Poplar Grove, until 2011, when she broke her hip and moved to Sunset Manor, where she made the best of it – thankful that she could knit to pass the time. Shirley was very thankful for her good friends but also, to be able to attend church at Peace Lutheran, via the Innisfail Handibus. All of her friends and family were very dear and near to her. Shirley was an amazing example, grateful for every day.
Leaving to mourn are her nieces and nephews: Colin (Gerty) Kure and families of Spruce View, Janie Loney and family of Red Deer, Michele Johannson (Ike) and families of Spruce View, Sonja Kure and family of Calgary, Bonnie Kure and sons of BC, Kathy (Vern) Burkholder and family of Calgary, Ron Kure and family of BC, Darrell Kure and family of BC, Ken (Shelly) Kure of Spruce View, Brian Kure and family of Red Deer, Beatrice Kure and family of Bowden; as well as her many great nieces and nephews, extended family and lifetime friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Art and Mayme Kure and her brothers, Russell (Monica), Elmer (Helga) and Gordon, her nephew, Bill Kure and her niece, Diana Kure. Shirley would be so very grateful for those that truly cared for her, and she’d want to acknowledge Dr. Barker for his personable house calls; especially during her life at Sunset and for the caregivers that especially took extra TLC time to be with her during the lonely Covid isolation. The last eight months certainly have not been kind to our seniors – however, Shirley was a trooper, nevertheless.
