November 25, 1945 - December 10, 2024
Sharon was born to Frank and Joan Leary, at the Chalmers’ Residence Hospital in Miniota, Manitoba in 1945.
In 1956, her family moved to Calgary, where Sharon graduated from Viscount Bennett High School. In April of 1965, she married the love of her life, Gary Lampitt from Denholm, Saskatchewan. He had come to Calgary to attend Tech (now SAIT) for an aircraft maintenance program.
They welcomed their daughter, Nadine, in 1969, and their son, Dwayne in 1971.
In 1978, Sharon and Gary purchased a Yamaha and Polaris dealership, and moved their family to Carstairs. After selling the dealership in 1992, Sharon spent her time as a President’s Award-winning controller for Carstairs Ford until her retirement. Sharon and Gary spent many happy months snow birding in Apache Junction, Arizona, and have continued with the friendships they made down south.
Sharon was very active in the Carstairs community, having been one of the driving forces behind the Carstairs Heritage Festival, as well as different charity fundraisers. She was never one to sit back and just let things happen! She enjoyed bowling, curling, playing cards, music and camping with their many friends.
In 2024, Sharon and Gary sold their home of 46 years, and moved into Seasons Encore Retirement Community in Olds, due to Sharon’s changing health.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gary, her daughter, Nadine (William Vass, the favourite son-in-law) and her son, Dwayne. She is also survived by her pride and joy, grandsons Logan Vass (Terralyn) of Blackfalds, Dustin Vass (Rychelle) of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, her three great-grandchildren, Sienna, Parker, and namesake Aubree Sharon Lorena, as well as her sister-in-law, Jackie Leary, niece, Heather (Cam) McCulley and their children Amy and Jake, and her nephew, Scott, and his children Hannah and Calder. She will be fondly remembered by brothers-in-law Neil (Sharon) Lampitt, and Brian (Bev) Lampitt of Batlleford, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Joan, her favourite Aunt and Uncle, Arnold and Margaret Walker, and her big brother, Barry Leary.
Donations in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
A come and go tea will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #53 in Carstairs, on December 17, 2024 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. Interment will be a private family ceremony, as per Sharon’s wishes.
