It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Nadine Maffitt, our Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Sister and Aunt, at the age of 82.

Mom passed away at Olds Hospital, on July 25, 2021, after a quick and brave battle with cancer. Nadine was born in Kitchener, Ontario, to Helen and Victor Williams and has one sister, Edith Brown.

Mom was passionate about raising Purebred Dachshunds for many years as we grew up. She volunteered her time a t the Olds Food Bank for many years and was awarded her 50 years of service to the Carstairs Bancroft Church. She loved to search our family Genealogy at the Olds library with her friends. She made great strides in the history of both sides of our family. Mom was an avid knitter, she made toques, mitts and slippers for the Mustard Seed and recently made preemie toques for the Innisfail Ambulance Services, for those babies that just couldn’t wait to get to the hospital. She enjoyed tying quilts with a couple of Church organizations that donated the quilts to worthy causes. Square dancing was another very happy time of entertainment she did with her close friends. Mom had a love of reading biographies and autobiographies.

Mom got the traveling bug later in life and visited the Maritimes twice, Salem Oregon, Phoenix Arizona, Seattle, California, Branson Missouri, Pennsylvania and Ontario often to visit with her sister and her husband, aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.

Nadine was predeceased by her husband Walter Maffitt in 2005 and her mom and dad Helen and Victor Williams.

She will be forever loved by her son David ( Carol), daughter Elaine ( Phillip), grandchildren Karla ( Kevin), Jolene, Gary ( Rheanne) , Drew and Brooke, Great-Grandchildren James and Ethan, sister Edith ( Joseph) Brown and niece/nephews, Phillip, Mike ( Joanne), Barbara ( Ro n ) , Justin and Wade along with all extended family and her many close friends. Nadine dedicated her life to her family and love of Dachshunds. She was always there to listen and give great advice to anything we were not sure of.

May you rest in peace Mom, Grandma, and be reunited with the love of your life, Wally. Mom requested a private funeral with her family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity close to her heart called, Alberta Dachshund Rescue Association albertadachundrescue.com or the Mountain View Food Bank Society ( Olds) albertafoodbanks.org.
