Mr. Arthur ‘Art’ Marshall of Olds, Alberta passed away at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre on September 10, 2024 at the age of 92 years.

Art was born in 1932 at his home in Scotland.  He immigrated to Canada with $50.00 and two suitcases in 1953. 

Art was an active leader in his community. He was an active member of the David Thompson Health Region, Alberta Cattle Commission, Masons, Bowden Lions, Alberta Progressive Conservative Party and a 4-H leader.  All his farming efforts were acknowledged by winning the Red Deer County Farm Family Award in 2000. Family meant everything to him.

Art met Helen (nee Hay) and they were married in 1958.  Art and Helen settled just outside of Bowden to start their family with Allan, Lorna and Ian.  In 1977, their family grew by three, when they took in Helen’s nieces, Val and Susan and nephew, Steve Hay.  The children quickly became a part of the Marshall Family.

  Art is lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-six years, Helen; his son, Allan (Leona) of Innisfail, his daughter, Lorna (Rob) Willert of Innisfail, his son Ian (Karilynn) of Bowden, Val (Lorne) Bradshaw of Innisfail, Susan (Dave) Sawatsky of Barrhead, Steven (Marion) Hay of Red Deer his fifteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, Abe of Bowden.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bowden Paterson Community Hall, Bowden, Alberta on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
