1948 -2025

After a fierce 3-year battle with f#&king cancer, Mom has earned her wings to heaven from Brooks, Alberta on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the age of 76 years.

Born to Grenville (G.E.) and Dorothy McCaig on May 21, 1948 in Didsbury, Alberta.  Mom was raised on a farm east of Didsbury with her 3 siblings.  After high school, Mom earned her Nurses Aid Certificate and married her first husband, together they had 3 fabulous daughters (5 star no nothings caregivers).

In October of 2000, Mom married the love of her life, Jim McClelland.  Through the years, Mom and Jim enjoyed being part of the Young and the Rest of Us Goldwing Biking Club and camping and they were famous for driving every back road just because.  Between 1999 and 2004 Mom and Jim were blessed with 9 grandkids and their focus became following around and supporting each and every one of them.  Mom and Jim were avid Brooks Bandits fans and after Jim’s passing Mom continued attending games.

Mom was loved and surrounded by many friends, and they were an important part of her life, whether attending a hockey game or coffee at A&W with her closest friends.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, her older sister and her dear husband, Jim.  Mom will be remembered by daughters, Cyndy Stevens-Breakell (Rob) and their sons, Kyle and Evan; Kim Seely (Lyle) and their daughter, Amy and sons, James and David; Jody Trembecki (Tom) and their sons, Logan and Dylan; her stepchildren, Brad McClelland; Scott McClelland (Kim) and their sons, Tylan and Ethan; Jody-Lee McClelland and sister, Bev Hill (Dave).

Through the years Mom made lasting impression with many people and we know that they will remember her.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Muller and staff at Centennial Health and all of the caring staff, along with Cindy Young, that helped care for Mom at the Brooks Health Centre.  A deep appreciation to Stephen at Southshore Pharmacy.  Cyndy, Kim and Jody would like to acknowledge Nikki from Homecare, your love and compassion will never be forgotten.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to your local minor hockey associations.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, details to be announced. Cremation is entrusted to and conducted at Smith Funeral Home Ltd., Brooks
