1940 – 2023

Mr. Raymond ‘Ray’ McGinnis of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre surrounded by his loving family on December 26, 2023 at the age of 83 years.

  Ray was born on November 13, 1940 in Innisfail, Alberta and grew up there, where he also met the love of his life.  They married and raised their family there until moving to Rocky Mountain House in 1987. 

Ray became a licensed mechanic and worked with his dad at his business, Corner Service in Innisfail, and also at Churchill Bus Lines maintaining the fleet.  In 1976, Ray began working at Alberta Gas Trunkline which later became Nova.  He continued working there until his retirement in 1996.  He and Donna moved to Red Deer in 2001. 

Ray began golfing at age 11 and remained an avid golfer through most of his life. He was a member of the Innisfail Golf and Country Club and golfed in their Annual Labor Day Tournament for over 50 years.  He also enjoyed curling in the winter and was an avid sports fan.

Ray is lovingly remembered by his wife Donna of fifty-six years, his daughter Corrine (Del) Grovet of Lacombe, Alberta and his daughter, Carla (Wes) Bolander of Calgary, Alberta, his two grandchildren, Keara and Kyleigh Grovet as well as his brother, Robert McGinnis of Lantzville, British Columbia.

Ray was predeceased by his parents, Jessie and Leo, his brother Ronald, his niece Colleen and an infant nephew Kevin.

A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, Memorial Donations may be made to the Jr. Golf Program at the Innisfail Golf and Country Club.
