 April 26, 1964 - July 30, 2024

It is with immense sorrow we tell of the passing of our dear brother, Norman, on July 30 / 2024, in Sooke B.C. Norm left too early at the age of 60 years, but in those years, Norm lived a complete life.

Norman Steven McInnis was born on April 26/1964 to Frank and Betty McInnis at Olds, AB., where he remained until graduation, when he moved to continue his education. Norman came from a large family of ten, with five bothers and four sisters. While in Olds Norm made some lifelong friends that he stayed in contact with throughout his career in municipal politics. Growing up in Olds at that time was a blast and Norm enjoyed a big chunk of it. When in grade 8 Norman met Cory Yoder, and by the time high school was wrapping up, he knew they were going to be married, and on July 22/1989 they did get married.

Norman was proud of his hometown, and he set his goal of being the CAO of Olds very early in his career. He wanted to go back home and make a positive impact on the community that he loved. By all accounts, Norm did that. He set his sight on a goal and seemed to have a very clear plan and commitment to achieving it. This was also the case after their nest was empty and their two sons, Bill /Dec 3/91 and Sam /June21/96, were grown and Cory and Norman decided that they would move west. Off to Fernie and then to Sooke because Norm always wanted to live on the west coast.

Norman left this life after a brief but excruciating battle with colon cancer. He is predeceased by his father, Frank his mother, Betty, two brothers, Larry and Bob, and two sisters, Debra and Lynn. Norman is survived by his wife, Cory, son Bill (Kim) and grand daughter Ziggy, and son Sam (Deana). Brothers Ron (Christina), Larrie (Marlene), Kelvin (Sue) and sisters Mona Cardinal (Neil Lunn) and Brenda ( Ken ) Mumby. Also, his Father and Mother in law, Gary and Betty Yoder, and brother in law Kurt (Sophie). As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers Norm's wishes were a donation to the Rotary International or rotary club. Celebration of life at the Olds Legion on Oct. 19 /2:pm to 4: pm. Please join us.
