In Loving Memory: Celebrating a Life Well Lived

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Duncan who joyfully graduated into Glory after a year long battle with leukemia. While our grief weighs upon us, we take solace in knowing that Duncan has found eternal peace and serenity in the embrace of the arms of the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen and their children Andrew (Tracey) and Christie, three grandchildren, Jet, Eva and Axl, his brother Scott and sister Barbara, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Elinor, and his brother, Alan.

Duncan was born in Regina and grew up on various Air Force bases in Canada and the US. He eventually landed in Hay River where he met Karen. After brief stints in Uranium City and Leduc, they made Hay River their home for the next 40 years, building a life together. Through time, Duncan served as Coroner, Justice of the Peace, Mayor, Elder, and he loved being the Pieman. Unable to sit still in retirement, Duncan indulged his love of aircraft, coming full circle to work back on the ramp at the Edmonton International Airport until his illness no longer permitted it.

A Celebration of Duncan’s life will take place at Terwillegar Community Church in Edmonton (1751 Towne Centre Blvd. NW) on June 17th at 2pm.

Duncan's family sends heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Pilgrims Hospice in Edmonton for their exceptional care during his brief stay. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that you consider making a donation to the Pilgrims Hospice Society so that others in need receive the same level of compassionate assistance during their most vulnerable moments.
