It is with great sadness we announce that Yvonne lost her hard fought courageous battle with cancer on January 24, 2025 at the age of 87.

Yvonne was born and raised in Olds where she spent the majority of her life.  She met Ray in high school and they were married for 64 years.  Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her family and she especially loved the time spent camping at the family’s campground.  She enjoyed curling, cheering for Ray while he was playing ball and curling, taking in the rodeos and chuckwagons as well as travelling.

Yvonne spent endless hours doing handicrafts for her family as well as selling them at local craft fairs.  Later Yvonne gravitated back to knitting and crocheting where she made hundreds of toques for cancer patients and the less fortunate as well as baby blankets and afghans for the Olds Hospital.

Yvonne was active in the community and very involved in volunteering with the Farmer and Farmerettes Curling Committee, the Olds Agriculture Society and working at the Nu-2-U store.

Yvonne will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ray and their children Darcy, Kevin and Michele (Langer).  Yvonne was predeceased by her parents Chester and Louise Dodd, her siblings Chester (Duane) Dodd and Donna Allen and her son-in-law Garth Langer.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care Yvonne received from Dr. Nel and the staff at the Olds Hospital as well as Dr. Tarukandirwa and the staff at the Red Deer Cancer Center.

A private family service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to a charity of their choice.
