1950 - 2024
Harvey Milligan passed away November 29th at the age of 73 at the Red Deer Hospice surrounded by his family. Born in Hanna, Alberta on December 17th, 1950, he married the love of his life, Sherry Graham on April 6th, 1974.They spent 50 years together and were devoted parents to their 3 children, Lane, Corey and Miranda.
As a young man and entrepreneur, Harvey purchased his first backhoe in 1972 and started H.E. Milligan Trenching and Excavating Ltd. and operated it until 1996. During this time Harvey worked for Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) , Nova Cor and the City of Red Deer as well as various other companies throughout the years.
Another passion for Harvey was farming. Together with his father, Mac, and his wife, Sherry, they grew export and domestic hay and raised purebred Red Angus cattle. As many know, Harvey was a natural salesperson who enjoyed meeting and talking to anyone and would always find the best bargain at an auction (near or far). Harvey enjoyed telling jokes at any opportunity he could get, and would often be the life of the party.
Harvey was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. Harvey enjoyed getting together for family meals and hearing about family activities and adventures that would put a smile on his face.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Sherry, children Lane (Lori), Corey(Nadiya), Miranda (Lee) Taylor; grandchildren Mayan, Peyton, Brooke, Kaleb, Cole; his father Mac Milligan and siblings Doug and Kenna and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother, Louise Milligan.
A celebration of Harvey’s life will be held December 12th at 1:30 at the Paterson Community Hall in Bowden Alberta.
