William (Bill) Arthur Munro, 77, passed away on July 26, 2024 in Sundre, Alberta from a 3 year battle of cancer. Married to Kathleen for 52 years and lived 30 years out in the Sundre area.

He was born in Calgary and lived one block away from the train yards where his life long passion for trains began. He was known to chase a train or two, thrilling his kids but scaring his wife. He has built a huge train display in his Quonset that he was happily adding to, up to the day he passed away.

He became avid reader in his last few years, reading a book a day. He surprised us with his coloring book obsession and loved played cards with his childhood best friend, Ray and family.

Bill was a huge Stampeders football fan but would watch any Canadian team during the season.

Bill love to argue politics, a family trait, which caused some heated moments throughout the years. He had a clear view on what he liked and didn’t give a damn what others thought of him.

He had a passion for computers and learning. His profession was IT/computer programing. He was teaching himself Python in the last few months.

He loved to travel and always wanted to see what was over the next hill.

He was a father to 3 children, Joy (Larry) Grills, Barbara Munro, and William (Billy) Munro who passed away in 2020. He was a tough father and it was his way or the highway but he did mellow out when the grandchildren came, David, Damien, Hunter, Landin, Emma and Lxie.

His parents, Arthur and Claribel Munro, his sister Phyllis (Ron) Montford preceded in death. He has a surviving brother, Donald (Liz) Munro, and many family & friends.

Bill didn’t like funerals so the family have decided not to have a service. But feel free to toast a drink to him if you choose. Thank you
