August 16, 1935 - March 26, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, John William Nesom of Red Deer on March 26, 2022 at the age of 86 years.
John was born in Bowden, Alberta on August 16, 1935. He is survived by his two daughters Jan Nesom and Tracy Nesom and his life partner Muriel Nesom (Adair). The oldest of eight children, Dad’s surviving siblings include Wilda (Lloyd) Koepke, Chess (Phyl) Nesom, Jim (Pat) Nesom, Louise (Jack) Craig and many nieces and nephews. His deceased siblings include Mary Schmid, George Nesom and Roy Nesom.
John’s greatest interest was farming. John could be found helping out local farmers in many ways from lending a hand at harvest time to stopping in for a visit when he was out for a country drive. John farmed west of Bowden before retiring to Red Deer. John’s hammer travelled with him and was ready when he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity or lent a helping hand to build a playground in Yuma, Arizona. His Chrysler Charger project car and his L50 John Deere tractor kept him busy too. John was proud to be a founding member of the Foothills Natural Gas Co-op bringing rural gas to rural Albertans.
The loss of a father is a heavy burden to bear as he was the source of strength that will be missed this day forward. John was interred in the Alto Reste Cemetery in Red Deer, near to many of his relatives.
