1957-2024

Diane was born April 12, 1957 in the Olds Hospital to Margaret and Gerald Archer.  She was the second oldest of 6 children: Janet, Diane, Kelvin, Laureen, Devon, and Nancy. She grew up on the dairy farm her family operated and attended school in Didsbury.

Shortly after graduation she went to Sierra Leone to help nurses with bandages and tend to other’s needs.  When she came back she attended Reeves Business College and received her Senior Secretarial Certificate.  At this time the Archer and Nisbet families had already often gotten together for family functions, enabling a relationship to grow between Andy and Diane.  On November 11, 1978 they were married in Didsbury.  In 1984 their daughter Lynnette was born.  Shortly after, Diane began to work at the Mundt and Meyer Dentist office and then the Olds RCMP as the secretary.  In 1986 their son Rex was born.  A little later, Diane was given the opportunity to follow her kids into the school system where she became the Reed Ranch ECS Coordinator.  In 1996 she was hired as receptionist for Deer Meadow School and began a career which lasted for 28 years.

Throughout her married years Diane was also involved in the registered grain farm alongside Andy.  She operated the combine and kept record of dates for seeding, harvesting as well as the farm books.  She enjoyed gardening, baking, keeping a pond of goldfish for several years and spending time with family and friends.

2001 she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She decided to stay away from any medical treatments and found great success in naturopathic medicine for over 20 years.

In 2013 her son Rex married Jamie (nee Vandepypekamp).  Her first grandson Cade was born in 2014 followed by her first granddaughter Dayn in 2018.  She so cherished babysitting, baking, spending time in the garden and playing games with her grandkids.

In 2022 she had some health concerns arise that eventually led to her health declining over the next couple years.  Diane was a strong dedicated woman whose faith in the Lord kept her resilient through the many trials of life she faced.

On the evening of Dec 11th Diane passed away peacefully, blessed to have had her wish fulfilled to stay at home for as long as possible.

A memorial service for Diane was held at the East Olds Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec 21, 2024.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you specifically to Lisa, Deana and Jolene from Homecare for the compassionate care of Mom and assistance during our time of need.  As well as the Innisfail EMS Linda and Stephen, Officers Tim and David, and the staff from Heartland Funeral Services who were exceptionally professional and considerate in the way they dealt with the sudden passing of Diane that evening.
