December 5, 1963 – December 19, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Richard Kerry Otte who passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Dulcina Hospice on December 19, 2024.
Richard, also known to many friends as Kerry, was born in Edmonton but his family moved to Calgary when he was still very young. He called Calgary home for many years until making the move to the community of Water Valley, Alberta where he found a home, made many great friends and many great memories. He was involved in the local Celtic Music Festival for many years and managed the festival for 2023 & 2024. Music was a large part of his life as he played guitar and keyboards and wrote music for the personal enjoyment of the art.
Richard worked as an IT specialist and brought his artistic flair to the task of technology. Due to his love of music and animals, he donated, through his consulting company West Side Road Inc., to CKUA Radio and various animal rescues including Bear Valley Rescue, Calgary Humane Society and the Alberta SPCA.
Richard was predeceased by his mother, Mary Otte (nee Horvath) and his father Richard, known by most as Dick Otte. Richard leaves behind his common-law wife of 30 years, Debra Golding, and his special dog Skipper. Richard is survived by his brother Ken Otte, partner Julie Carriere Robichaud and nephew Mason and his sister, Jane Otte with brother-in-law Dennis Muirhead.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15 at 114 Fifth Ave, Cochrane, Alberta on January 15, 2025, at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dulcina Hospice at the St. Marguerite Manor or to the Arthur J. E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
