It is with saddened hearts the family of Muriel Agnes Pederson announces her passing on May 1, 2020 at the age of 96 years surrounded by her loving family. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters Marjorie (Bill) Frecka and Sheryle (Don) Mueller; daughter-in-law Sharon Pederson; Her memory will be further cherished by her seven grandchildren; Curtis Mueller, Cassandra (Aaron) Stromsmoe, Heather Mueller, Daniel (Chelsea) Pederson, Renée Pederson, Ryan Frecka and Jessica (Craig) Pederson; great-grandchildren Jayden Mueller, Kayson Mueller, Seth and Sean Pederson, Alexa and Ayden Stromsmoe.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul and son Ken Pederson and will be lovingly remembered by a large extended family. Muriel and Paul farmed in Eagle Hill community for many years where they raised their three children. Muriel loved a sense of community and her and Paul were longtime members of the Olds and District Evergreen Club and Sons of Norway where they made many lifelong friends. One of Muriel’s greatest joys was planting and nurturing her garden and flowers, especially her sweet peas. She was a kind, caring and generous woman who loved people.
After leaving the farm in 2010, Muriel moved to The Season’s Retirement Community where she resided until 2019. She filled her days with puzzles, bingo, cards and watching Jeopardy. She loved to socialize with her many friends and family. Muriel recently moved into Didsbury Continuing Care where she lived until her passing.
During this difficult time, mom’s highlights were facetiming with family and window visits. We are all wonderfully fortunate to have had Muriel as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend. A private graveside was held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Eagle Hill Cemetery with Pastor Ed Peters officiating.
