September 3, 1951 - December 21, 2022
Robert (Bob) Keith Persson was born on September 3, 1951 in Ontario to Edwin and Bernice Persson.
Bob moved west with his family to the West Kootenays in the mid-1960s, where Bob had the opportunity to work with and learn from his dad. Bob married the love of his life, Cheryle and they had three energetic boys Robert, Mike and Kyle. Bob and Cheryle followed work from Creston, to Radium and finally settled in Sundre in 1985.
Bob and Cheryle spent a lot of time in the bush hunting, fishing, camping and going for firewood to try to keep the three boys active and out of trouble. Bob was very proud of his trade as a saw filer and had achieved the role of head saw filer when he retired from Sunpine Forest Products.
After retirement Bob and Cheryle enjoyed spending their summers at their Burnstick Lake Lot, which ended up becoming a spot where family gathered to enjoy wonderful summer days.
Bob lost his battle with cancer peacefully on December 21st, 2022, at his home, surrounded by family. He is survived by his sister Jan Couper, brother Ken Persson. Also his sons Robert (Barb), Mike (Cheryl), Kyle (Erin), adopted son Dan (Tanya). Bob and Cheryle were blessed with many grandchildren who are also grieving their Papa.
Cheryle predeceased Bob in April of 2020. A special thank you goes out to dear neighbors who are friends, Mary-Anne and Sheldon, for their help and support in helping Bob after Cheryle passed away, plus checking on him almost daily. Another very special thank you goes to Dr. Chapman who went above and beyond in his care of Bob and support for the family.
