1941 – 2024

Eva Allison Riddle (nee Westwood) of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at Heritage House, Stettler, Alberta on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the age of 83 years.

Eva was born in Wimborne, Alberta and attended schools in Wimborne, Milner, Raven, Tindastal and Markerville. Having a father in sales meant moving frequently and attending several schools. She took great pride in watching over her brothers at school and insured there was no bullying going on.

Eva worked at various stores in Innisfail and then settled in as secretary for the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion for thirty-two years. She enjoyed the comradery that came with the job and made many friends. She was also a lifetime member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and catered many functions. Eva never missed watching the highlights of the Calgary Stampede and always looked forward to the Curling Bonspiels. She enjoyed camping, knitting, and her best little buddy (her dog) Dakota.

Her most memorable adventure was on a cruise to Alaska, and she had many souvenirs to cherish.

Eva moved into the Long Term Care unit at Heritage House in Stettler where she had the best of care from all the devoted staff. Prior to her move to the Autumn Glen Lodge, there were two very special friends, Tony and Heather Davis, along with other family and friends who helped her maintain her independence as long as possible.

Eva is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bonnie (Max) Johann, and her granddaughter, Alisha Johann, all of Edson, Alberta. She will also be deeply missed by her three brothers, Ralph (Shirley) Westwood of Red Deer, Alberta, Marv (Dianne) Westwood of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Barry (Barb) Westwood of Lacombe, Alberta; as well as many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Eva was predeceased by her father, Bill Westwood, her mother, Mary Calvert, her brother, Gord Westwood and special friends, Lorraine (Scottie) Gow and Faye Pearce. In keeping with Eva’s wishes, there will be no Funeral Service, but the family will be hosting a Remembrance Celebration of Eva later next year.
