August 6, 1933 - June 3, 2020
It is with sad hearts the family announces the passing of Phyllis Marie Rock (nee Boettger) on June 3, 2020 at the age of 86 years.
Phyllis was born in Didsbury on August 6, 1933 to David and Velma Boettger. Her family later moved to Sunberry Valley (west of Sundre). After high school, Phyllis worked at Knotts General Store, the Red & White Store, AGT in Olds as a switchboard operator and Sundre Motors bookkeeping.
In 1955, she married Bob Rock. The first years they lived in Sundre operating their own trucking company. Phyllis maintained the home and the bookkeeping for the company. In 1965, Bob got the itch to return to the farm and that spring they purchased the Beauchamp quarter east of town. They later added the 2 adjoining quarters. Phyllis remained on the family farm until her passing. When Phyllis was younger, she enjoyed curling and then bowling for several years. She had many talents including canning, growing a huge garden, baking, playing the piano by ear, painting and crocheting. Her best talent by far was being a mother and grandmother with a cookie jar always full and arms wide open for hugs. She will be sadly missed and always in our hearts.
Phyllis will be forever remembered by her children Jack (Barbara) Rock, Jim (Sandy) Rock, Jeff Rock, Jody (Gary) Rasmussen; 11 grandchildren Marty (Dani), Ryan (Rebecca), Cody (Kelly), Brittany (Garrett), Dale (Kayla), Amelia (Chris), Royce (Fiona), Sarah, Shaun, Cory and Chad; 14 great-grandchildren Jarred, Henley, Robert, Reagan, Ruth, Renn, Tanille, Austin, Riley, Denton, Curt, Trent, Aubrey and Olivia; as well as numerous other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Bob and infant son Kent.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Chapman, Dr. Ward and Home Care for their amazing and compassionate care.
