Rosamond Helen Leota Smith (nee Hosick) passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at her home in Season’s Retirement Community in Olds, AB.

She was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on June 5, 1937. Rose married Edmund Smith, February 23, 1957. They lived in rural Saskatchewan and Medicine Hat prior to moving to Didsbury in 1964. They remained in Didsbury for more than 30 years. Rose was always involved in the community through the church, Kinettes and K-40’s and Girls Club. She was a generous, fun loving gal that supported her family’s hobbies, travelling adventures, and sports. She spent many hours volunteering, sewing, crocheting, baking and looking after her family. Rose worked in the health profession most of her adult life, both as an RNA and a receptionist at the Mountain View Health Unit. Rose loved to travel, making lifelong friends wherever she travelled. Rose and Ed travelled extensively in their retirement years to Ireland, Egypt, Thailand, Scotland, Yemen, Dubai, Australia, Greece, Hong Kong, France, England, Germany, all of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Rose enjoyed her cabin at Gull Lake as well as their park model home in Mesa, Arizona where they spent many years as snowbirds.

Rose is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ed, of 63 years; her daughters, Elaine (Dennis) Thompson and Janice (Mike) Holub; and grandsons, Jon, Tyler and Bradley. She is also survived by numerous sisters, a brother, nieces and nephews. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing staff at Season’s Retirement and specifically in Lochleigh, for the love and wonderful care they gave Rose during her stay. A Private family Remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose Smith’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, www.heartandstroke.ab.ca, Suite 100, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6, or the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary,
