The family of Jean Saby sadly announces the passing of their dear mom, grandma, and great grandma on October 13, 2022. She passed at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre, after her battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, at the age of age 86 years.
Jean was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, August 5, 1936, to her parents Violet & Frederick “Shorty” Mason. Jean’s family moved to Alberta for the remainder of her life.
Jean expressed her passion and love of helping people through her years spent working the floors of the Olds Hospital.
Jean’s faith, family, friends, and cooking were everything to her. In the early 60’s she made the choice to serve God. She found peace and joy in keeping true to that commitment all her life.
Jean’s door was always open, and the coffee was always on. Everyone was welcome to walk in at any time day or night.
Jean is greatly missed by her children: Linda (Fred), Greg (Trudi), Laurie and Sharon, her beloved grandchildren Ben, Stephanie, Andrea, Reece, Spencer, Rhett, Luke, Tyisha and Katy. Her absence is greatly mourned by her adored 23 great – grandchildren, her lifelong friend Micki Lamb, as well as many other dear friends, and the children’s father Dale.
Jean was predeceased by her grandson Jake, her sister Peggy and brothers Gord and David.
A Memorial Service for the late Jean Saby will be held from the Reception Room at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites 4601 46 Ave (Olds College) on Saturday October 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made in Jean’s name to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
