It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helga Maria Sadlowski on November 19, 2021, in Sundre Alberta at the age of 82 with family by her side.
Born September 21, 1939, in Schlesien Germany to parents Bruno and Hildegardt Wagner. On Easter 1946 her older brother Dieter died followed 6 weeks later by her younger sister Barbara from tuberculosis, known as a disease of starvation which Helga herself also had, but survived.
Her formative education came at a convent where she also learned to cook, sew, and to make clothing as well as the value of a good work ethic.
She met and married Juergen Sadlowski in 1964 and days later immigrated to Canada, settling in Calgary where she bore 4 children: Micheal, Christina, Andrew, and Evelyn.
In 1974 the family moved to Bergen where the family farmed. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and providing incredible cooking and baking to the family and to the community at large.
She was a member of the CWL (Christian Women's League) and was also proudly a member of the Bergen Ladies Aid where she had many friends and even hosting quilting get togethers at her house making those famous quilts.
She had many good friends, and a positive attitude with a great smile that will be remembered.
She is survived by her brother Herbert; her sister Irmgard (Heinz); her Niece Simona and her two children; her Nephew Christian; Juergen (Shirley); her children Micheal; Tina; Andrew (Trisha); and Evelyn, as well as 4 grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents and her siblings Dieter and Barbara.
A funeral was held In Olds on November 24 with internment afterward at the Bergen cemetery.
If desired in memory of Helga, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
A special thank you to the staff at the Mountain View Seniors Housing facility in Sundre for the care of our beloved Mother and Oma.
