1951-2024
It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of Peter Silbernagel on Friday, December 13, 2024, following a tragic slip and fall on the ice while on his way for morning coffee. Despite the exceptional care he received at Didsbury ER and Peter Lougheed Hospital, Peter peacefully passed away at 12:15 AM, surrounded by his family.
Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Evelyn; his children, Laura (Freddy) and Charles (Laarni); his grandsons, Tristen and Robin; his brother, Jerry (Lillian); as well as many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Matthias and Betty; and his younger brother, Dale.
Peter was born in Eckville, Alberta, in 1951, and his early years were spent in various towns across the province as his father worked in seismic exploration. The family eventually settled in Pincher Creek, where Peter graduated from high school and began his adult life. He remained working in the area until 1982, marrying his wife in 1973 and raising their family, before moving to Didsbury to work for Shell Canada Burnt Timber Gas Plant for 25 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Didsbury Train Station, 1812 20 Street, Didsbury, on Saturday, January 4th, at 1:00 PM.
Peter’s legacy is one of quiet strength, curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to family. His family and friends will remember him for his thoughtful nature and his belief in the importance of slowing down to appreciate the little things in life.
