Hugh was born in Roblin M.B. to Earl and Hazel Stauffer and passed away May 12, 2024, at the age of 93 years. He farmed with his dad and brother Orton. He moved to Calgary in1967. There he met Marion Haldane and was married in 1986. They moved back to Roblin M.B. for 20 years to help his brother Orton in his butchering business and eventually retired to Sundre.
One of their favorite things to do together was square dancing. Marion and Hugh cherished their time in Sundre with the seniors, carpet bowling, floor curling as well as camping and dancing with their good friend John (Jack) Ware at jams and campouts. In 2010, Hughs health started to decline, eventually needing more care which he received at the Sunset Manor in Innisfail.
Hugh is survived by his wife Marion of 38 yrs., 3 stepchildren, Linda, Mark (Brenda), Christopher (Leeca); 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; special friend John (Jack) Ware; Sisters-in-law Hazel (Tony) Kosmachuk, Luella Gallop and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pre-deceased by his parents Hazel & Earl Stauffer, brothers Orton & Calvin. Sisters Buryl & Marjorie, first wife Syble, brother-in-law Bill & Jim Doole, Sister-in-law Liz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Sunset Manor, Innisfail for their wonderful care of Hugh. In keeping with Hugh’s wishes, no service will be held.
