Mr. Russell Sutherland passed away to be with his Lord and Savior at his home in Bowden, Alberta on February 9, 2025 at the age of 93 years.

Russ was born in Leask, Saskatchewan on June 14, 1931 and grew up on the family farm outside of Marcelin, Saskatchewan. He rode his horse to attend the Skipton one room school until grade eight. He received his GED and went on to complete a double degree of Sociology and Psychology at the University of Calgary. 

In August of 1950, Russ joined the army PPCLI Special Force. In December, he was sent to Korea where he was wounded in battle.  He served in the army as a Medic until 1974 when he retired.  After retirement, Russ kept very busy with three years in Corrections, a sawmill, Parkland Nurseries. He had a lifelong love of dogs training and hunting with them as long as he was able. Russ loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and loved providing for his family.  He loved Jesus, he dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized in 1990.

Russ will be lovingly remembered by his wife Patty, his son Wayne (Tessie) Sutherland, Wade (Lois) Sutherland, his daughter Wendy (George) Widmer and daughter Lindsay Sutherland as well as six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Austin and Minnie, his two brothers, Donald and Arnold and one sister, Toots and his nephew, Ron.

 A Funeral Service will be held at the Innisfail Alliance Church on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Hal Willis and Ralph Rintisch officiating.
