1937- 2020
Mr. Peter Swanson passed away peacefully and went home to be with his Lord on October 29th, 2020 in Innisfail, Alberta with family at his side.
Peter was born on December 25, 1937 to Peter and Hilma Swanson in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. His family later moved to Sundre, Alberta and Okotoks, Alberta. Peter married Karen Somers on June 3, 1961 and eventually settled in Okotoks where they raised their family. They later retired in the Aberdeen District east of Innisfail, Alberta where he kept busy on his retirement property as well as serving the great people of the Innisfail Baptist Church. Peter was well known for his strong faith, wisdom, integrity, and sense of humor. He loved hunting and fishing, especially with his brother Tom.
Peter leaves to mourn his daughter Tina (Dave) Cripps, sons Tim (Lily) Moore, Trevor (Grace) Swanson and six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Robert Sheath Willington and Herb Sheath; Sisters-in-law Elaine Snyder, Sandra Somers and Barb Swanson as well as brothers-in-law Keith, Lorne and Cyril Somers. In addition, he leaves an extended family of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Peter was predeceased by his loving wife Karen, his son Kevin Swanson, parents Peter and Hilma and his stepfather William Sheath, his brother Tom Swanson, nephew Kent Snyder and infant sister and brother-in-law Lorna and Graham Somers. Peter also had a twin brother who died at birth (unnamed).
