Our family regretfully announces the passing of Gregory Wayne Thiessen who passed away peacefully in the High River Hospital on September 11, 2022 after fighting an extremely courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne was born on June 18, 1948 in Turner Valley, Alberta and as a young boy, moved to Millarville where he had his first job at the Millarville General Store. He graduated at Ernest Manning High School and went on to work for the City of Calgary, Town Of Sundre, Town of Olds before finding his “perfect” job at BRT Construction with his dear friend Pearly.

He loved sports, coaching hockey in Sundre, watching his children play sports, riding horses, camping and being in the outdoors. He was an avid Calgary Flames and Stampeders fan.

Wayne lived in Calgary, Sundre, Bowden, and Okotoks before moving to High River where he settled happily in his retirement. Wayne was an incredible man who loved his family dearly, had the biggest heart and a true passion for life. He had the brightest smile and sense of humour, even in his final days. He is survived by Dolores, his love for the last 31 years, His son Jeffrey Jay (Pam), granddaughters Courtney and Kayla and his first great grandson Jaxon Wayne, his son Tracy, granddaughter Kyla, grandsons Riley and Tyler, and first great granddaughter Addy, his daughter Tammy and grandson Kaden, his son Wade (Chelsea) and grandson Aidan, granddaughters Arianna and Reese, and his loving sister Wendy.

Wayne is predeceased by his father, mother and sister. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held in June 2023.

Wayne will be forever loved and remembered by all who knew him.
