1926 - 2022
Mr. Joseph George Urban passed away peacefully at the Rosefield Care Centre, Innisfail, Alberta on September 28, 2022 at the age of 96 years.
Joseph was born on August 30, 1926 to Stefan and Cecilia Urban in a small town on the Hungarian Czechoslovakian border. Stefan immigrated to Canada in the spring of 1927 leaving his wife and two daughters Agnes and Julie and son Joseph to establish a new home for his family. By the spring of 1930, he was able to bring his family to a half section farm in the Golden Prairie area of Saskatchewan.
The family grew with the arrival of twins Helen and Henry in 1932. The family moved to the Brooks area in 1945 where Joseph grew up and farmed with his father where he met and married Josephine Chrumka in 1953. They had three children, Daniel, James and Joseph. Keeping the farming operation in Brooks they moved to Calgary in the 1960’s where Joseph obtained a heavy-duty mechanic certification and managed a farm machinery shop.
Eventually Joseph sold the Brooks farm and relocated the farming operation to the Crossfield and the Innisfail area. In 1980 he sold the Crossfield farm and moved his family to Innisfail, where lived until his passing in September of 2022.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife Josephine, and son Daniel, son James (Karen) and grandson Jared (Megan) and great grandson Maverick, granddaughter Joni (Jonathan) great granddaughter Madelyn great grandson Axel, and granddaughter Jenna, and son Joseph (Lori). He will also be remembered by his loving sister Helen.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Cecilia and Stefan, his sister Agnes, his sister Julie, his brother Henry.
