1924 - 2020
Mrs. Esther Rosina Vermillion passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of 96 years.
Esther was born September 2, 1924 in Schuler, Alberta, to John and Katherine Beringer, the tenth of eleven children. She married George Vermillion on May 16, 1946. They ranched west of Innisfail for seven years, and then moved to Calgary for a short time, before moving to their farm, east of Elnora in 1960. George and Esther raised a family of three daughters and one son, ran a busy guest ranch, were active in the community and enjoyed many winters in California. They sold the farm in 1993, and moved back to Innisfail; where they would both live out the rest of their lives.
George passed away in 1997, after fifty loving years of marriage. Esther loved entertaining others through acting, music and telling stories; she was an avid horseshoe and bocce player; had many friends, and was a proud ‘Red Hatter’ and Legion member.
Esther will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Penny (Alex) Davidson of Delburne, Cindy Cameron of Huxley and Tammy (Ken) deBeaudrap of Penticton, British Columbia; her son, Shay (Marialys) Vermillion of Ethelburt, Manitoba; her sixteen grandchildren and her twenty-six great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Diana Lindstrom of Calgary, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Esther was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shayla Vermillion, in 2016 and a son-in-law, Neil Cameron, in 2017.
A Public Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, 4415 – 49 Street, Innisfail, Alberta on Saturday, November 8, 2020 between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. A Private Family Funeral Service will be held. Interment will be held at the Innisfail Cemetery, Innisfail, Alberta.
