In 1985, Betty and Edward retired from farming and moved to Didsbury, and enjoyed playing golf, cards, knitting, crocheting and volunteering in the community.

Her final years were spent at Aspen Ridge Lodge in Didsbury and then Age Care - The Manor, in Calgary. Many thanks to the health care workers that provided her with exceptional care and showed great empathy and kindness.
