Winifred ‘Win’ May Waters nee Taylor passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the age of 95 years.

Win was born on May 26, 1929 in Delia, Alberta to Rhoda and Harry Taylor. She was the sixth of seven siblings. Win played basketball for and graduated from the Western Canada High School. She then went on to the University of Alberta, Calgary Campus, to become a teacher. Her first teaching job, which she absolutely loved, was in Davisburg, Alberta.

Win married Wilf Waters in 1950 and they lived in Calgary, Alberta before moving out to a “piece of a hay field” near Midnapore, Alberta. When Wilf retired, from AGT they put in place their dream farm. In 1975, they moved to the Cottonwood area West of Innisfail, Alberta. They were involved with the Cottonwood-Gordon Community and supported the hall and community activities.

Win was a fifty-year member of the Innisfail Hospital Auxiliary and loved to work in the Gift Shop and support the Hospital. She also belonged to the Women’s Institute for many years.

Her last years were spent at home with her beautiful yard, birds, sunrises and sunsets.

Win will be lovingly remembered by her four children, twelve grandchildren and twenty greatgrandchildren, Barbara Traxel, Andrew (Kelly) Traxel, Milan, Jonah, Luca and Octavius; Brent (Angela) Traxel, Lila, Nash, and Drew; Rena (Bill) Boudreau, Maurina; Kerry (Jack) Imler, Mike (Whitney) Imler, Vanden and Vienna; Dan (Katie) Imler, Braxton and Navy; Norman (Michelle) Waters, Amanda (Liam) and Gary; Neil (Cathy) Waters, Randi (Shayne) Ivey, Scarlett, Jayden and Quinn; Jordie (Chelsey) Waters, Wyatt; Rylee, (Scott) Orth, Eloise, Ender and Winnie; Taylor (Kashtin) Waters; Lani (Mason) Kinley, William, Henderson and Jackson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wilf, her half-brothers, Russell and Maxwell, her sisters, Mary, Evelyn, her brothers, Philip and Gordon, her grandson, Jamie Traxel and her son-in-law. Allen Traxel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood-Gordon Community Hall, SW corner of Cottonwood Road (Township Road 352) and Range Road 30, 3005 Township Road 352,  Red Deer County, Alberta, T4G 0K6.
