Peacefully and surrounded by family, our beloved Nellie Watson passed away on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020. Throughout her bountiful 95 years of life, Nellie was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, strong matriarch of the family farm, and pillar of her community.  She fondly touched the hearts of all who met her.

Nellie was a lifelong volunteer and highly recognized member of her community. She was a ceramic teacher and local historian to the region (Along the Burnt Lake Trail historical publication). To name a few of the organizations she dedicated her time to include The Evarts Community Club, Evarts Cairn, 4-H, Girl Guides, and Scouts of Canada. She was a generous contributor and fundraiser with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Lending Cupboard, and Olds College. Nellie won the Alberta MS Society Volunteer of the Year Award both in 1989 and 1999, and in 2002 she was inducted to the Olds College Hall of Fame (’46 Home Economics). In 2016 she was a recipient of the prestigious Women of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Award.

Predeceased by parents Les and Fay Jarvis, her cherished husband George Kay Watson, sons Stewart & Tracey, and siblings Ralph, Bernard, Audrey and Bernice.  Survived by son Ross (Sharon), brother Art (Joanne), daughters in law Deb Watson & Sherry Erichson, grandchildren Garrett (Theresa), Jason (Sabrina), Matthew (Bridget), Kathryn, and Heather. Great grandchildren Maxim, Lex, Jaxxon, Galen and Pheonix, as well as many nieces and nephews.
