Sadly, the family of Ruth Atlantric Watson is announcing her passing on February 15, 2021.

Ruth was born in Viking and grew up in Minburn on her parent’s farm with her three brothers – Philip, Alexander “Sandy”, Robert and three sisters; Lily, Evelyn and June. They drove a cutter to school in the winter and a cart with rubber wheels in the summer when they all went to school together. Later on when Ruth and Lily were the only ones attending school, Ruth rode a horse and Lily her sister biked or walked because Lily said that Ruth rode her horse too fast.

Ruth met her husband Harold in Minburn at her sister’s place and were married in 1948. Shortly after, their first child Daryl was born and then in 1951 their daughter Donna. They lived in many places including Manville, Fawcett, Cadomin and Edmonton and then finally Olds. Ruth worked in many places throughout her life. She mostly enjoyed making friends while working at the Saan Store for 10 years and keeping in touch with these people she met throughout her career. Ruth enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing crafts. Her greatest joy was her family and babysitting her great grandchildren. She loved to spoil them with love and they were all special to her in their own way.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her son-in law Ken (Ann) Harper; grandchildren Dean (Maureen) Harper and Tara Harper (EJ); great grandchildren Dakota, Bailey and JD Harper; sister Evelyn.

She was predeceased by her husband Harold; son Daryl; daughter Donna; parents Fred and Atlantric; brothers Philip, Sandy, Robert; sisters, Lily, June. A private service was held at the Hainstock Cemetery. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements. 403-507-8610 Condolences may be made or viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
