Its with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of William “Bill” Leonard Wigley on May 23, 2023, at the age of 95 years.
Dad worked on the rigs throughout Alberta for 21 years and earned many safety awards. After many years of working on the rigs, he decided to retire from that and start farming. He farmed land west of Olds until the age of 91 years. Dad loved working and harvesting the land and just being on a tractor.
Dad’s expertise was wood working and always made projects from scratch. He enjoyed all sports especially hockey, baseball, and curling. He played hockey and baseball as a young man in the Westerdale area. If he wasn’t playing hockey or baseball, you could find him curling in the Elkton Arena.
Dad and mom (Muriel) were married for 53 years at the time of mom’s passing in 2012. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Left to cherish and remember him in our hearts will be his children Gord, Sherry (Peter): 3 grandchildren Tyler, Zachary, and Alex.
The Wigley family would like to extend an enormous “Thank You” to all the time, assistance, care, and attention that was shown by the staff at Seasons Encore. Also, to the doctors and nurses at the Olds Hospital. We greatly appreciate you all.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes a private family graveside will be held. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made directly to Heart & Stroke Foundation. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
