ALLEN WILSON

1938 – 2022

Following a strong and courageous battle with many health issues, Mr. Allen Russell Wilson passed away at home, with his loving wife by his side, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the age of 84 years. Allen was born on February 15, 1938 at Eckville, Alberta, the youngest in a large family. He left Daisy Nook School at an early age to start a long life of hard work. Allen started his work life as a rig hand and then went on to own his business clearing land and digging dugouts for farmers in the area. After selling his equipment, he started a new career as a Cement Truck Driver with the highlight of that job being working with his sons.

Allen was a kind and quiet man who took great pride in his family. He was devoted to his wife and dancing partner, Margaret of sixty-four years. He was a homebody, even though he enjoyed trips to British Columbia to visit family; a memorable trip to Disneyland with his youngest son; and an unforgettable West Coast fishing trip with his cement truck driving buddies. Allen was a tinkerer at heart and could fix anything. He instilled this trait in his sons and grandsons.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Margaret, his children, Allen (Kathleen) Wilson, Lonny (Gail McElderry) Wilson, Ann (Byron) Krogh, and Ron (Shauna Wills) Wilson, his grandchildren, William (Laura Lucas) Wilson, Sarah (Miles) Vollman, Dawn (Dan Patterson) Wilson, Lee Krogh, Adam Krogh, Dustin Krogh, Samantha (Samuel Dodd) Wills-Wilson and his great grandchildren, Tyler Cornish and Frank Vollman and Noah and Payton Patterson. Also grieving are Allen’s two furry friends, Runty and Carman. He will also be dearly missed by his sister, Neva Knudsen, his sisters-in-law, Hazel Wilson, Myrtle Nickel, Faye Howe, Mona Howe, Cora Howe, Carol Hrabak and his brother-in-law, Fred (Carol Oviatt) Howe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him and remember him always.

Allen was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Ida Wilson and his siblings, Olive (Hedwin) Anderson, Fred Wilson, Mary (Dave) Airey, Helen (Ken) Hunley, Florence (Tony) Wyzykoski, Johnnie Wilson, Pauline (Grant) Hooey, Darlene Wilson, and his brothers-in-law, Henry Knudsen, Charles Howe, Sam Howe, Walter Howe, Tommy Howe, Johnnie (Marie) Howe and a sister-in-law, Chris Howe.

The family wish to thank Margaret for her extraordinary care, love and dedication to Allen. A special thank you to the Spruce View Fire Department/First Responders/Ambulance Services for their assistance over the last year.

Allen’s wishes were there will be no funeral. A  Private Family Graveside Service will be held. The family would like to thank everyone for their support.

To honour Allen: “Be the things you loved most about the people who are gone”.
