March 1940 - July 2023
Ian James Wilson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on July 6, 2023 in Didsbury, Alberta after a brave battle with cancer. Ian was born in March, 1940 in Cambuslang, Scotland where he lived until emigrating with his family to Canada in 1957.
Ian was known for being very thoughtful and was always willing to help. He was incredibly handy and creative which turned his love of woodworking into many cherished memories and gifts. He was also very skilled at playing guitar and managed to get in a weekly game of badminton for several years. His latest hobby was assembling LEGO.
Ian worked for the Alberta Government Land Titles office before taking early retirement and was always saying his retirement kept him busier than any job he’d had.
Ian will be dearly missed and always remembered by his wife Debbie; son Russell and wife Jackie; daughter Heather and husband Clayton; brother Doug and spouse Jeannette; cousin Paul and spouse Leina; and grandchildren Cassidy, Connor, Emmett and Clark.
Ian’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brunner and staff at Didsbury Hospital for their kind and gentle care while Ian was there.
In keeping with Ian’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to a local charity of choice.
